Camp Best Buddies Summer Camp Challenge – How to Raise Money – Www.CampBestBuddies.org
Now, I know a lot of parents are hurting right now for cash. It’s so expensive to raise children that making ends meet seems impossible. So, what better than let the kids do something fun and get paid for it? In the case of the Founder Apprenticeship Program at Camp Best Buddies, that might be easier said than done.
A two week summer camp, complete with fresh ice cream treats, cookie dough trucks, pizza parlors, an art gallery, beer garden, and party performances for teens who are budding in their roles as human being-builders (“We represent every level of human experience,” says Camp Best Buddies), the program offers ages 8-15 excellent hands-on experiences with the summer camp program “all under one roof.” For the organizers, there’s no better way to keep young people engaged and occupied this summer than to help them raise money via a summer camp adventure competition. And, by the way, it’s all tax deductible.
Here’s how it works: young campers, named founders, present their 30-second business pitches to a panel of Master Campers to discuss their company for potential investment. To qualify, applicants have to have at least a three-year experience in leadership development and leadership for under-represented individuals.
This year’s race — the third annual competition — will feature 67 businesses presented by 17 founders, and 99% of these businesses will have their summer camp experience validated by the campers at the end of the week.
The Founders Apprenticeship Program is a donation-based fundraiser. Check out their website for more information.
