AP Computer Science Principles Mobile App Now Available
Coinciding with the first AP Computer Science Principles exam on August 21st, the AP Computer Science Principles Mobile App is now available to download for iOS and Android devices. The AP Computer Science Principles mobile app will provide students with real-world career opportunities, including a variety of positions in gaming, medicine, the media, and more. Students are encouraged to complete their first three units by August 31st.
From TED Talks, inventors, and top marketers to top cybersecurity experts, students are finding a clear career path in computing through the advanced topics of the AP Computer Science Principles exam. AP Computer Science Principles exam topics are designed to help students not only understand the fundamentals of computer science, but also give them the potential to create and solve real-world problems, regardless of their field of study.
Mixed with information about scholarships, internships, admission to top schools, certificates of completion, and other resources, the AP Computer Science Principles mobile app encourages students to pursue the AP courses in computer science during their final year of high school. In addition to providing participants with a wide variety of career possibilities, the app empowers students to compete with one another for prizes in various categories, including “overnight success,” “lucky break,” and “internet memes.”
The AP Computer Science Principles mobile app provides students, as well as parents and teachers, with a simplified and fun way to learn about computers, and encourages students to move toward careers in a variety of areas in the STEM field (science, technology, engineering, and math). The AP Computer Science Principles Mobile App is offered free by the Computer Science department in the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

The AP Computer Science Principles Mobile App presents students with the opportunities in computer science. Students can complete their first three units as soon as August 31st, with the option to take the AP Computer Science Principles exam on August 21st.
This AP Computer Science Principles mobile app is not offered in Virginia. While the resources are provided by The Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and not by any school system or Virginia Department of Education. Because of the limited availability of scholarships, advisors and guidance counselors should direct students interested in the AP Computer Science Principles courses to the AP Comp. Exam Program, administered by AP Academic, Inc.
