Why Learning Something New During Video Game Play?
Sometimes the time commitment is too much.
Admit it, sometimes kids just aren’t into their video games. They just don’t get on board with spending long hours playing what they love.
There are ways to spice up a boring day at the video game store or the dining room table. Think before you press save.
Learning something new while you’re playing a video game is much better than playing games about collecting the best-titled toys and making the Minecraft village whole. If you play a specific game or two, you should aim to know something about it. This isn’t too much to ask.
Even if it’s a simple fact, learning that something about a game doesn’t just add interest but adds something unique to the player, there’s nothing wrong with asking that question.
Also, there’s nothing wrong with preferring some games over others. There’s also nothing wrong with being able to play what you love and not being afraid to say so. Try to play what you love. If you want to play more like this, it might be a good idea to learn what games you might enjoy and then take it slowly.
The great thing about learning something new while you’re playing is that it isn’t just about how you are feeling about your video game world. Learning about things in a whole new way is different from every other way of doing things. It’s all about the process and if your new knowledge can help you to improve in that process, it’s something to explore.
This also means that when you’re talking about acquiring new knowledge, it is necessary to always have one eye to the future and that learning is not about static knowledge that can be put down on paper. It’s about constantly improving the amount of knowledge that you have or finding out new ways to access the information.
At the end of the day, it all comes down to passion. Some games are better than others. Some games are better than others for some reasons. Some games make you want to wear your clothes backwards and some games make you want to wear them forwards. The joy of a video game is that it combines fun and learning. It shows us that sometimes your knowledge is taught, sometimes it is learned to you, and sometimes it is learnt to you.
Being made aware of the knowledge you’ve acquired on your chosen video game is part of learning, too. I mean, if you played CS:GO, you have it now. If you played WoW, you have it now.
You might feel like you don’t have what it takes to become the best in the world. At the end of the day, whether you’re amazing or not is never a matter of if, but a matter of when. The thing about making good video games is that it’s about a lot more than just building castles and knights.
Learning about games you like now is the first step towards putting them into practice. Imagine the potential of what you could do with your knowledge once you’ve got that down. It’s much more fun than just playing games. Playing video games alone doesn’t make you any smarter. Only playing video games with your friends can. That, or playing around the kitchen table.
And since it’s such a hobby for you, why don’t you enjoy your game more if you do know something about it? Perhaps that would help you make a decision about your game choice.
