Adria Arden, author of The Big Sleep: Getting Back into Sleep Like Never Before, will address the challenges of sleeping well in a presentation titled “Why your brain is not sleeping.”
Born and raised in the Los Angeles area, Arden is an internationally acclaimed college professor and practitioner of the art of sound asleep. She is an expert in the intricate art of chakras, sound sleep, lucid dreaming, sound therapy, energy medicine, somatic medicine, and hundreds of other health and spiritual practices. An invited presenter at the 2015 Interfaith Power and Light Conference, and a speaker in the Interfaith Multifaith Partnership in Health and Healing initiative, Arden has appeared in National Public Radio, the The Oprah Magazine, TIME, and The Associated Press. She also founded and is the Executive Director of SZONE Energy, a Los Angeles area energy and sleep therapy facility.
Her most recent book, The Big Sleep: Getting Back into Sleep Like Never Before, was published by Riverhead Books last December and has been named one of The New York Times and Los Angeles Times bestsellers. The book follows Arden’s journey from having a restless sleep disorder, to first experiencing healing from an apronful of insomnia, and finally recovering from double incontinence. As she travels across the country sharing her story and insights with audiences, the author believes she has broken down some of the myths associated with insomnia and sleep. Her realizations and results will be presented in an informative and amusing manner in this upcoming presentation.
About the author:
Adria Arden is the author of The Big Sleep: Getting Back into Sleep Like Never Before. In this book, she documents her personal experience, and her journey from having a restless sleep disorder to surviving a night of double incontinence. Adria received a Bachelor of Arts in biology and psychology from UC Santa Barbara and a Masters in science education from UC Irvine. She has been a college instructor for 16 years at UCLA, Mills College, and Central Michigan University. She received her Ph.D. in Eastern medicine and psychopharmacology from Penn State. In 2010, Arden was invited to present at a United Nations Conference on Environmental and Social Development in Cancun, Mexico. She has appeared on National Public Radio, the The Oprah Magazine, TIME, and the Associated Press. She also founded and is the Executive Director of SZONE Energy, a Los Angeles area energy and sleep therapy facility.
